Why the Kitchen is the Most Important Room of the House

May 9th, 2019 9:06 am
For most people, the kitchen is the heart of their home. No longer is it just the room where food is prepared, it’s now also where families congregate, food is eaten, plans are hatched, and children play.

If you’re having a party, everybody ends up in the kitchen. If the children want to do painting, you’ll probably be in the kitchen, or if you’re having your hair cut at home, yes you guessed it, it’ll probably be in the kitchen.

In the 21st century, kitchen is the most important room in the house, and one of the main reasons for this is because it is adaptable. A well-designed, modern kitchen can be sociable, a nice place to be on your own, adaptable to be able to be used by all of the family – and can even be a hair salon!

Making your Kitchen Adaptable

Kitchens are the social hub of many homes, and this is mostly down to the fact that it can be designed to be adaptable. As long as it is big enough, you can use your kitchen for anything you need from crafts to cooking. Everybody is different, and has different requirements from their kitchen, and this is why a bespoke kitchen which has been especially designed to suit your specific needs is the best way to get the most out of it.

There are many things that can be done to adapt your kitchen, from innovative ways to hide away your table giving you extra space, to ensuring that your kitchen floor is pet-proof. You might want the option of all the family being able to sit down and eat together, but don’t want a big table taking up all the room, or you might want a room where you can hide yourself away with the radio whilst creating your culinary masterpiece. And all of this whilst staying in keeping with the style that you want.

The Kitchen isn’t just for Cooking

Traditionally, the kitchen was just a place to prepare food. Nowadays, however, attitudes towards cooking and kitchens have changed.

Cooking is increasingly becoming something which we enjoy. Although a necessity, we are seeing more and more people using cooking to relax after a hard day, or to entertain friends at the weekend. This means that we are spending more time in the kitchen, it is becoming less of a room for the necessity of cooking, and more a room to relax and enjoy yourself in.

As a result of this, we are seeing bigger kitchens or open plan living areas, meaning that everybody can be together even if they are doing different things, making our lives more sociable and allowing us to spend more time with our loved ones than we previously could. As our free time appears to be ever diminishing, spending the time that we do have with our loved ones is a priority.
With a larger kitchen and living space, bespoke kitchen designers have more room to play with and are able to help us to create a space which is flexible and adaptable for everyone.

The truth is that we spend a lot of time in our kitchens and this is why it is such an important room for us. And this is why the kitchen is one of the first rooms that potential buyers want to look at when they are viewing a property. They want to be able to envisage themselves and their family in the kitchen, and, importantly, feed their dream of their ideal home. By being able to show people the possibilities of what the kitchen – and therefore the entire house – can offer, you can help them to see their dreams come to life, and, ultimately, make your house as desirable as possible to them.

For this reason, an attractive and well-designed kitchen is a massive plus point not only for your enjoyment of life as it is, but also if you want to sell your property in the future.

The kitchen is the most important room in your house because it is the room where you live. It is the room where life happens, where, if you have the right design, you can cook, eat, drink, chat, cry, play, work, socialise and much more. This is why it is at the heart of the home. It is where families bond, loved ones are nourished and people can come together.
