Remodelling your London kitchen in the New Year

Jan 22nd, 2020 11:58 am
The New Year it is a time of new beginnings in all aspects of our lives. You’ve probably spent a significant amount of time in your kitchen over the festive period and remodelling your kitchen is a great way to add some new life to your home. Whether you are looking to completely change your kitchen or just add a few new touches, now is the ideal time to do it!
Kitchens have always been an important room in our homes, having a big influence over the way that we live our lives and even the amount of time that we spend with our loved ones. A great way to see what sort of kitchens are popular in 2020 is to visit a London Showroom. Viewing the current trends and getting inspiration for you own kitchen is a fantastic first step, alongside discussing ideas with a designer.

Open plan kitchens

Open-plan kitchens have been on-trend for a while now and they don’t look like they are going to go out of fashion any time soon. This is because an open plan kitchen allows us to change the way that we live. We can cook whilst being around the family, prepare food whilst entertaining guests, and carry out everyday family life in a way that is more sociable and integrated.
This is important for busy London families. Time spent with loved ones can be maximised. It can also be potentially space-saving as you will be able to combine the functions of two or three rooms into one.
An open plan kitchen might need some structural work to be done, and possibly a full bespoke kitchen refurbishment. This will, however, give you the chance to completely update your kitchen, including incorporating the latest trends - both visually and functionally.

Colour changes and decoration

One way that you can make a big difference in your kitchen is by changing the colour. In 2020 we are beginning to see a move away from the different shades of grey which have been so popular over the last few years. Contrasting colours, such as dark blue and green or grey and white, are on the rise.
You can add these colours in through the painting of walls, tiles, or furniture – new kitchen furniture can add a perfect touch to your old kitchen.
We are seeing a rise in the popularity of featured splashbacks – the tiles behind ovens and sinks. Geometric designs or colours which tie the kitchen together are a great way to give a modern, interesting touch to your kitchen.
You should also be aware of the amount of light that you have in your kitchen. Natural light is always best and glossy worktops are a great way of accentuating that light.

Storage

2020 is seeing the return of open storage in the kitchen. Where our best crockery might have previously been hidden away inside kitchen cupboards, we are seeing more and more people opting for the use of open storage. Open shelves allow you to display your favourite kitchen crockery, gadgets, and pots and pans without them cluttering up your work surfaces. This gives a more rustic feel, especially when combined with natural materials like wood or metal.

Technology

We see new kitchen technology coming out every day – some of which are useful to us, and some which aren’t! However, one piece of technology can revolutionise the way that you use the kitchen. Technology such as smart fridges, boiling water taps, and smart kettles are gaining in popularity, and can help to save you time and organise your life.
If you’re not wanting to change the whole look of your kitchen a new gadget can give you more culinary inspiration – a sous vide machine or smart grill, for example, can open up a world of new recipes.
The beginning of the new year is a great time to remodel your kitchen. Make big or small changes and give it a new lease of life. A remodelled kitchen can be somewhere where you and your family love spending time and really make sure that the space that you have enhances your lifestyle.
