You can dream about your perfect London kitchen, but when it comes to pulling together all of the elements, it’s nice to have the pros on your side. Life happens in the kitchen, so it makes sense to create one that makes you happy and that’s functional. If you’re thinking that your old kitchen needs to go so you can get a new one, check out what can be done in your space.

For inspiration, we recommend visiting a showroom

Cabinet Doors and Drawer Fronts

A large part of what defines a kitchen is the cabinets and drawers. You need them as a place to store your crockery, cutlery, pans and all the other kitchen accoutrements, and they’re the first thing you and other people see when they enter your space, so you want them to be modern and sleek. We have a variety of options including shaker style, modern, and traditional styles that meld with the other features in your kitchen. You might also consider choosing the open shelving such as we used in the transitional kitchen we installed in Clapham as an alternative to the cabinets you’re used to. This opens up the kitchen and gives it a sleek wide open look.

The cabinet knobs and drawer pulls you choose make a big impact in your kitchen and can really change the entire look and feel of the design. One of the biggest elements of a modern kitchen is sleek hardware and door furniture. Options that run the full length of the cabinet doors and drawers are especially trending at the moment. Traditional knobs and pulls in matte metal finishes that meld with the colour of the cabinets, floors, and walls in your kitchen are another easy way to give the entire space a modern look. You might also like the look of the modern kitchens we deliver. It has an attractive sleek and seamless look.

Natural Materials

Making the most of natural materials in your kitchen is a great way to stay modern and create a clean look in the space. The horizontal grain of many kinds of wood makes for a great choice as does the natural veining of marble for countertops. Whether on the floors, the furniture, or the cabinets and countertops, natural elements create a streamlined look that does a good job of bringing the outdoors in.

Horizontal Lines

As mentioned above, horizontal lines create a much more modern look and you can see that in our shaker kitchen designs. The long kitchen island makes that horizontal statement that you’re looking for. At the same time, the length versus the width of the space adds to the effect. You can also have the tile laid in a horizontal grid or choose natural woods with a natural horizontal grain.

Storage is essential in any kitchen and this is one of the areas we always seek to maximise. Whether it’s below or above countertops, you have many ways to store food, dishes, and other kitchen needs in any of our kitchens. For example, in our shaker kitchen, you can see lots of drawers and cabinets, both above and below so there is ample room for just about anything. In another example, a traditional kitchen usually features cabinets of many sizes.

Your countertops deserve some thought too. They’ll make a statement and if they don’t meld with your natural materials and colours you’ll have a space that looks blocky and mismatched. We always review a number of options for countertops to help you settle on the right one. Marble and quartz countertops are especially modern, but granite is still a good choice as well. You’ll love the colours and patterns we have no matter which style of kitchen design you choose.

Accents and Decor

While your kitchen loses its flair if it becomes too cluttered with knick-knacks, a bit of accent is always welcome. Some great ways to introduce colour into your kitchen is via barstools at the island, cushions on the chairs, the colour of the tablecloth, or even the flowers and cookbooks displayed on your open shelving. Once we complete the kitchen of your dreams, you can accent it with your favourite pieces to create your own unique space.
